Gary Portelli – Based at Warwick Farm, Gary is Laurel Oak’s main Sydney trainer, having held his No. 1 Trainers' License since 2003.
Gary is an enthusiastic, talented, sociable and approachable trainer; all qualities that help make the ownership experience with him very enjoyable. Gary has a family-based training operation including brother Troy as his assistant trainer heading up Gary's Flemington stable which has always helped the stability and success of his operation.
Gary is well established as one of Sydney's best known trainers. Despite training a relatively small team compared to the big Sydney operations Gary is a regular in the winners circle at Sydney metropolitan and provincials tracks, while he also has a successful satellite stable based at Flemington. Gary's best effort in the Sydney premiership was finishing at 4th position in 2002/2003, a mighty effort as he finished in front of some much larger stables. In recent years he has cemented a regular position in Sydney’s top trainers on the premiership ladder.
Gary’s biggest success came in 2006 when consistant filly Rena’s Lady took out the AJC Oaks, giving Gary his first success at the illustrious Group 1 level.
Apart from Rena’s Lady, success for the Portelli Stable has come through the deeds of consistent past and present Stakes performers Before To Long, Canny Fly, Hy Fuji, Marwin Gold, Charlie Bub, Mimzical, Perfect Crime, Sportsbrat, Knickerbocker Kid, Forest Express & Down The Wicket along with many consistent metropolitan horses such as Rosmarino, Maritess, Chaud Roche, Dracaan, Black Bubble, Glorious Lady Letter Of Intent, Down The Wicket, Something Anything, Red Queen, Helluva Party, Weekend In Paris, Test Edition, Cigar Royale, Glenbawn Star, Empire Dancer, Absent Friends, O’crikey, Over The Wicket & Belle Soleil.
Winners Gary has trained for Laurel Oak include the stakes-placed and multiple city winner Grand Juror (who gave her owners a great thrill in the spring of 2001, racing on Caulfield Cup Day, Cox Plate day and Melbourne Cup Day!), Rockin Roller, Regimental Star, La Canteur , Quicksand, Balwearie, Anamanor Texarcana, Lady Zhivago, Rocket Radar & Sea Eye Pea. Promising gallopers in the stable for Laurel Oak are headed by Texarcana, Lady Zhivago, Rocket Radar, Sea Eye Pea, Heartbreak Pass, Typhoon Fury & Wild Borneo.

Keith Dryden - Training from his Tuble On Lodge stable complex in Canberra, Dryden has produced many successful gallopers, with the most notable being the Laurel Oak Syndicated and raced Into The Night (Rhythm (USA)/Marshow). Having won 9 races from only 29 starts, and over $800,000 in prizemoney, Into The Night was rated one of the better sprinters of his time. Having won the Group 2 QTC Cup as well as 3 Listed races, the highlight came when a close 2nd in the Group 1 Salinger at Flemington to another Laurel Oak raced galloper in Ancient Song.
In more recent times the star of the stable has been tough mare Coolroom Candidate. Keith mentored this grey mare all the way from a Maiden at Canberra, through the metropolitan grades to multiple successes in Group company in the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes and the Group 3 Research Stakes. Coolroom Candidate’s record stands at an impressive 36 starts for 9 wins, 10 seconds & 4 thirds with prizemoney of $446,000.
Gallopers such as Tumble On, Into The Night, Serkelt, Freestyler, Biggins, Adventure Walk, Keltic Flash, Jester’s Red, Coolroom Candidate, Testa Grande, Private Dan, De Jetcat, Lucetius Steel Titan, Bacchanal Woman, De Lightning Ridge are just a few of the past and present well performed horses in Keith’s Stable.

Tony Noonan - Located at Mornington, Tony Noonan has had considerable success over the past few years with the very handy gallopers of the calibre of Majestic Avenue, Magneto, Logican, Northeast Sheila, Yammer, Gunnamatta, Purple Groove, Emlozza, Buffed, Youthful, Panoramic Heights, Super Groove, Show No Emotion, Abdullah, Bionic Bess, Smart And Mighty, Benedetti, Hanna Rossa, Jacqueline Rouge, Lady Lisbon, Diario, Beaming, Asshewaqua, Arrowsweep, Kinka Rhode, Heart, Ortensia and plenty more.
One of the best horses to be trained by Tony was the Scenic mare, Piavonic. One of this mares claim to fame was beating the Champion Mare Sunline in the Group 1 Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley. Not only did Sunline have her colours lowered that day, but Group 1 winners Falvelon and Marstic, as well as the dual Group 2 Winner Weasel Will, were left in the wake of Piavonic powerful finishing burst. This win gave Tony his 1st Group 1 win as a trainer. Piavonic has gone on to succeed in the breeding barn producing several quality gallopers including current star Von Costa De Hero.
Tony has trained many horses for Laurel Oak including Carolina Moon, Dambuster, Gangbuster, Rhiannon’s Spirit, Jindelara, Pattie Royale, Prerogative, Divine Proportion & Klondike Kid. Current horses in the stable include Soul Diva, Power Of Love, Tireless, Magic Zulu, Kaapstad Lad, Denunciate, Pyrenees Jewel, Cabriole, Equity, Be Positive & Cut And Run.

Gillian Heinrich - Gillian trains a very successful team from her Gold Coast base. Gillian mainly trains for Heinrich Bloodstock, but does occasionally train for outside clients.
Gillian has had success in many Stakes races and metropolitan grades through the deeds of All Bar One, Dance The Waves, Public Opinion, Fiery Sunset, Heartbreak Pass, Green Lagonda, Mi Chiamo, Renouf, Daedulus, Ghetto Blaster, Main Vien, Rasmussen, Cat D’antibes & Daddy’s Little Girl,

Peter Moody – Training from his Caulfield base, Peter is now firmly established as a leading trainer and is consistently in the top 5 on the Melbourne trainers' list and top 10 on the national list, In 2003/2004 he trained some 125 winners and won the Victorian Country Trainers Premiership and finished second on the Melbourne Premiership and in season 2004/2005 he finished second on the Victorian Country Trainers Premiership again training over 100 winners for the season. He is consistently in the top 10 trainers in Victoria year in year out
Peter has trained many successful gallopers over the past few years including the likes of Sky Cuddle, Amalfi, Vouvray, Segments, Sky Love, Niagara Falls, Seidnazar, Testafiable, Zacielo, Cinque Cento, Ancient Song, Eskaw & Magnus to mention a few. Laurel Oak’s first Group 1 winner, Ancient Song was trained by Peter to win the 2003 VRC Salinger Stakes defeating another Laurel Oak Syndicated horse in Into The Night. Recent success for the partnership of Laurel Oak and Peter Moody has been through the very consistent mares Miracle Queen, Radiant Star, Tempelhof and Yolo.
Currently Peter trains the talented two-year old Fury for Laurel Oak connections.
